In 2014, the longest defined coastal route in the world opened in the west of Ireland, adjacent to the Atlantic Coast, a wild and rugged landscape. The original track dates back to 2000 BC. Paul Rawlins, founder of Celtic Rider, was chosen by Tourism Ireland to lead a 10 day motorcycle tour with the president of the Adventure Travel Tourism Accossiation (ATTA), Shannon Stowell and vice president, Chris Doyle. The mission on this tour was to showcase the Wild Atlantic Way and to exhibit to the ATTA what it really is about. What the Wild Atlantic Way had to offer blew them away...

The Wild Atlantic Way

The Wild Atlantic Way is Ireland's first long-distance touring route, stretching along the Atlantic coast from Inishowen in Donegal to West Cork. The Wild Atlantic Way is officially the Worlds longest coastal drive. Celtic Rider staff members are official ambassadors, there are only 30 in the country, hand chosen by Tourism Ireland, and we are very proud to be associated with this incredible ride along our western seaboard. New for 2016 is motorbike hire Scotland, a 21 DayWild Ireland & Highlands of Scotland.

New for 2016, after extensive personal research into the most impressive scenic touring routes in Scotland, both coastal and highlands riding, matched with carefully chosen authentic Scottish towns, with really nice accommodation providers, Celtic Rider Ireland are delighted to launch from April 2016, self-drive tours of Scotland as an extension of current self-drive tours of Ireland. In other words, and this is important, all self-drive tours start and finish in Celtic Rider Ireland, which is located 16 miles from downtown Dublin.

Our Wild Atlantic Way tour, which is currently 13 days in duration, will be extended by 8 days to become a 21 day tour. So, instead of returning on day 13 to Celtic Rider from the Inishowen peninsula, the most northerly part of Ireland, the route will now take you across the north Antrim coastal causeway route to Belfast, taking the ferry to Scotland from either Belfast or Larne Port. This new 21 day Wild Ireland/ Scottish highlands tour,  self-drive tour can be reduced in duration, and can start at any point, thus allowing flexibility to riders who just don’t have the time to complete the full tour.
